We can’t even begin to thank everyone who came to the Halloween show in Longview enough. It was easily one of the best times we’ve ever had playing! Now pat yourself on the back and say good job because you totally made our night.
800 Octane was just the band to provide that rock. I said earlier that 800 Octane never fails to entertain, and tonight’s show was no exception. If anything they put on their best live performance I’ve yet seen from these PDX cats. They came onstage decked out in skeleton shirts and zombie makeup, splattered in blood, and proceeded to start things off with a bad-ass cover of the Mistfits’ “Halloween”. Things didn’t slow down after that. Lead singer Dave continually spit blood into the crowd, who were going nuts, moshing, dancing, hopping onstage to sing along, and crowdsurfing throughout their entire set. One of the highlights of their set was the always crowd pleasing “Day of the Dead”, when several members from the crowd along with members from other bands playing took the stage to sing along with the band. The band is always great to it’s fans and tonight they had people flinging candy into the audience for the entire duration of their set. I’m talking probably 20 pounds of candy here. (note, do not stare at candy being thrown at your face, tootsie pop sticks hurt when they plunge into your face).” (PJ Crader / geekass.com)
Bonfires burning bright, pumpkin faces in the night, I remember Halloween. Dead cats hanging from poles, little dead are out in droves, I remember Halloween. Only one more day until the festvities so now’s your last chance to get a map and find your way to Longview.
Ok, in case you were wondering our fans totally rule. We’ve been given not one but two photographs from people who made their own 800 Octane pumpkins. That is just too damn cool!
This just in — we’re playing with Zebrahead @ the Roseland in Portland this coming Monday. It’s short notice and a total surprise but a) it’s the Roseland and b) it’s Zebrahead so no complaints here.
10 days until the big Halloween show in Longview. The word on the streets is that there will be some video cameras and audio recording equipment there. Not sure what we’re going to do with the footage just yet but it should be interesting. Also, you can expect some appropriate covers that evening. Lots of other shows in many places coming up over the next month and a half including trips to Eugene, Bend, Richland and Govt. Camp. Also, we have our first show in the booming metropolis of McMinnville coming up as well. After that we’re taking a few weeks off so we can write some more songs for the next album.
Ok, here’s a weird bit of news: there is now a local roller hockey team called the Octane Zombies which will be playing games in Oct, Nov and Dec. The team’s captain who is a fan of ours (obviously) is inviting everyone out to see a game. Games are on Sunday evenings, last about an hour, completely free and sometimes contain mild violence. If you want to see a game e-mail Jerad for a schedule and more info. We are definitely intrigued
Thanks to everyone who checked out the KNRK 94 cent show this weekend. Stay tuned for lots more upcoming local shows including the Halloween bash in Longview and many more!
Late but cool show addition
New shirts, new shirts, new shirts! Yep, we’ve got a brand new and somewhat evil looking t-shirt design featuring a hearse on it. Also, we’ve got the old school Flaming 800 Ball shirts in every size again. Word. Also, in purely self glorifying news we now officially have over 500 pictures in our pictures section. Plus we just topped 125 flyers archived in the show journal. Consider this shit super sized sucka!
